My name is Maraya Carbajal, and I am a first generation Mexican-Salvadoran American college student attending California State University Northridge (CSUN), majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I aspire to become an aerospace engineer, contributing to aerospace research and technological innovations. I first found out about this scholarship through a few of my professors who encouraged me to apply for this scholarship and I'm extremely grateful for all the support and guidance I've been given in pursuing a profession in STEM. The moment I found out I won, I was overjoyed and immediately told my family and mentors who were very proud of my accomplishment. Thank you so much for supporting my dreams. In pursuing my engineering degree, I am paving the way for others to continue pursuing their education and believing that the impossible dreams are always possible to build. This profession has allowed me to make the world a better place.
